I've decided to start blogging about my continued failures/successes with practising. I'll be honest and admit that this was partially inspired by the movie "Julie and Julia" (which my wife forced me to watch, I swear!) I'm counting on the fact that nobody will be reading this at least for a while, and therefore few will go back to the first post and stumble upon this embarrassing tidbit of info!
My general impetus to do this is a way to keep my musical work focused, and to help motivate a daily routine. I know for myself this is easier to accomplish when I have more than just myself to be held accountable to.
Does that make any sense?
Last year one of my New Year's resolutions was to practice more. I did for a while, and then it waned as I got busier. A valid excuse, but an excuse none the less.
I've talked to musicians that practice tons, and others that hardly practice. I know for myself, I always feel better, more inspired and more creative when I am spending lots of time at my instrument.
Anyways, I'll be posting my practice routines/habits/whatevers here...hopefully daily, but I'm gonna start slow.
Happy New Year! Here's hoping...
